The Whole Person
The Whole Person is the Center for Independent Living in the Kansas City area.
A CIL provides the following core services:
- Independent Living Skills Training (Education on the many elements for a successful life in the community)
- Individual and Systems Advocacy (Speaking out to pursue personal rights and in policy change)
- Information and Referral (Helping people get the information they need to live independently)
- Peer Support (Organizing social activities and meetings for a wide variety of disabilities)
- Transition Services/Support (Bridging high school to college and/or work, and from institutionalization to independence)
The Whole Person offers a variety of additional programs outside of our core services:
Adaptive Sports – The Whole Person’s Adaptive Sports Program is working with adaptive sports programs across the metro in order to provide diverse and inclusive play opportunities at competitive and recreational levels for people with disabilities living in the greater Kansas City area.
Deaf Services Training/Workshops – The Whole Person offers the opportunity to learn more about the Deaf community in Kansas City. We provide two training/workshop options for businesses, groups and organizations in the Kansas City Metro Area.
Personal Assistance Services/Home Health Care – We are committed to offering experienced, responsive, and quality care in your home located in the following counties: Jackson, Andrew, Atchison, Buchanan, Caldwell, Clay, Clinton, DeKalb, Holt, Nodaway and Platte.
Private Pay Medical Transportation – The Whole Person provides private pay, non-emergency, medical transportation to people with disabilities who need a ride to doctors’ appointments, dentist appointments, dialysis, physical therapy, etc.
Guardianship Counseling – Missouri Residents, The Whole Person may be able to help you petition for Guardianship or Conservatorship for your loved one. After you provide the requested information, The Whole Person (TWP) Legal Team will assess your case in full and determine if TWP can offer you our services and represent you on your Guardianship case. They will review a fee agreement with you at that time.
