Audio-Reader

Audio-Reader (a program of the University of Kansas) offers 24/7+ programming intended for persons with print-disabilities (examples: blindness, low vision, dyslexia, cognitive impairment, or physical ability limitations). Our dedicated and talented volunteers read local newspapers, store advertisements, magazines, books, and can read special requests such as care instructions, leases, instruction manuals, or similar documents.
People who qualify for our services can listen with or without home internet, and we have a variety of options depending on physical and technical ability. To try a sample, visit https://audioreader.net/, then click on “Listen to the Live Stream” to hear the current program on the schedule. Programs are listed for on-demand listening on the Program Guide page (https://audioreader.net/programguide).
In addition to the website, we have an Alexa Skill for Amazon devices and a dedicated mobile app available on iOS or Android called the “Audio-Reader Network of Kansas” app. For people without internet, we have a special radio we can send new listeners or a toll-free phone number option called Telephone Reader.
